Social Network Graphing

Maybe I should quit my job and head over to the ReadWriteWeb for god’s sakes. I was having this discussion last week with a source: when will we reach a point where open protocols create a truly ubiquitous social network? Until then, we’re all just swimming around in the big, empty cyber-space. Running from network to network is exhausting.

(For instance, I’ve been using my RSS Reader tonight to follow about 40 people, while also following my Twitter-ites for news and information.)

Charlene Li has apparently answered my question, which makes me wonder why I even asked it in the first place.

To realize this vision of ubiquitous social networks, Charlene pointed out 2 things that must happen:

  1. We need the technology to evolve, which she wasn’t that worried about
  2. We need to increase trust, which she challenged the industry to think about
