BitTorrent Reduces Cost of TV Distribution

March 8th, 2008 | by Brad King |

A Norwegian company decided to release one of its television programs using BitTorrent. Obviously, they found that the move saved them money, which begs the question: Why doesn’t everyone use distributed networks to deliver their content.

Two reason: you need a critical mass of people to insure that enough people are online who have the content to download AND you can’t have quality control when you don’t control the distribution channel.

Still, it’s a cool idea, one that gets some sort of traction every few months when some company decides to try out this Internet thing.
