Listserv News: Lifestream + Social Network + Email
April 1st, 2008 | by Brad King |The listserv continues to add members, but right now most of the discussion seems to be Dave Thomas and I sharing some of the tools we find interesting. His email today was so spot on, I thought I’d report it here. What follows is all him:

I haven’t played with it yet. But the idea of a mail tool combined with a social network tool makes sense to me. Basically, it does similar stuff to Xobni, but with more of a social media focus. I can find images in my inbox, for instance, then easily share with them groups of people through Flickr.
What’s this have to do with journalism? Well, here’s my hunch — there’s a brave new world of socially mediated inbox journalism to discover. Think about a newsletter times life streaming times social media times beat reporting. I know it’s not hip to talk about any more, but think about email as push news.
Think about your inbox as the pulsing, configurable interface to your information space. If nothing else, think about the possibilities of email if the email clients didn’t all suck so bad.
