Cell Phone: $400. GPS: Comes Installed. No More Traffic Tickets: Priceless.

A new company — Trapster — allows motorists to alert drivers to police speed traps by using their cell phones.

This isn’t a website, it’s a mobile network that updates people as they are on the move. A far more effective use of technology than a mashup map because you can get it while you’re on the road.

When you start combining these types of devices with Dash, which I wrote about last week, it’s not too difficult to see a time when people no longer go to the newspaper or television to find out about traffic.

And with the National Weather Service, it’s hard to believe that anyone goes to their local outlets to get information about weather.

That’s going to cause a problem for papers looking to continually grow their numbers.

If Trapster is widely adopted, it’s also going to cause a problem in traffic, what with all the speeding drivers crashing into each other.

Haha. Either that or we’ll all become experts at multi-tasking at high speeds.

    This all ends well, yes?
