No News for Flyover States. You Suck. Sincerely, the News.

I asked my Tweet-followers to send me the coolest news applications that they found. The reason: I do a piss poor job of keeping up with everything so I let those smarter than me do the heavy lifting.

Cynthia, who is one of the few people who return reliable information from Twitter, sent me this analysis of news datelines between 1994-1999.

If you ever wondered why I hate the media (as if I haven’t spent enough time detailing that), it has less to do with technology and more to do with arrogance. This map details the height of that.

It’s not that I don’t realize that big cities are clearly going to generate more news. It’s that it’s a select few big cities. Coastal cities. Coastal cities that believe what they read — which is only news from other big cities — and then rationalize that there is only news happening where they are since, you know, that’s the only news there is.

I just threw up a little from all the spinning.
